Why Write for Travelgilt.com?
Contributing to Travelgilt.com means your work reaches a growing audience of engaged US travel planning readers actively looking for exactly the kind of destination guidance you can provide. Here is what our contributors gain:
- A real, engaged readership — Travelgilt.com attracts readers who are actively planning trips and making travel decisions. Your content will be read by people genuinely interested in the destinations and topics you write about.
- An editorial home for quality content — We are selective about what we publish, which means your work appears alongside content that is held to a real standard. Being published on Travelgilt.com carries genuine editorial credibility.
- A clean, permanent link in your author bio — Accepted contributors receive a short author bio at the end of their article, with a single link to your personal website, travel blog, or professional portfolio.
- Full editorial support — Our team provides constructive feedback and works with contributors to bring articles up to our publishing standard. We are not looking for perfection at submission — we are looking for genuine, original work with real potential.
- Long-term visibility — Our content is built for longevity. Well-written destination guides and travel articles on Travelgilt.com continue to attract readers for months and years after publication, giving your contribution lasting exposure.
Accepted Topics
We accept submissions that align with our five content categories. Please only pitch topics that fit naturally within one of the following areas:
Things To Do — Specific activity guides, city itineraries, attraction roundups, and experience-led content for US cities, towns, and destinations. For example: the best things to do in Nashville, top activities in Seattle, hidden gems in Charleston SC, or a first-timer’s guide to things to do in Key West.
Places To Visit — Destination recommendation roundups, best-of lists, and curated travel guides focused on US states, regions, and international destinations. For example: best places to visit in Florida, top places to visit in Colorado, or warm places to visit in January.
Destinations — Vacation planning content, seasonal destination guides, and travel inspiration for US and international travellers. For example: the best Christmas destinations in the USA, top spring break destinations, or best US road trip destinations for families.
Travel Guides — Practical, how-to travel content covering trip planning, logistics, budgeting, travel tips, and traveller FAQs. For example: how to plan a US road trip, how to get paid to travel, or a beginner’s guide to planning a national park trip.
Tourism — Content covering tourism trends, landmark attractions, national parks, cultural travel experiences, and international tourism topics. For example: a guide to Madeira tourism, top US national parks to visit, or cultural tourism experiences in the American Southwest.
Topics We Do NOT Accept
To protect the quality and focus of Travelgilt.com, we will reject submissions covering the following:
- Topics unrelated to travel, destinations, or travel planning
- Promotional advertorials or articles that primarily exist to promote a commercial product, brand, or business without genuine editorial value
- Content focused primarily on booking platforms, airline reviews, or hotel chains without a clear destination guide angle
- Thin content — articles under 1,000 words that do not provide substantive value to the reader
- Recycled, AI-generated, or previously published content of any kind (see our No-AI Policy below)
- Content that targets audiences outside our scope — for example, purely business travel content, corporate travel logistics, or luxury travel for a highly niche audience without broader relevance
- Opinion pieces or personal essays that do not include actionable, useful information for travel planners
Contributor Guidelines
Word Count
All submissions must be a minimum of 1,000 words. Our preferred submission length is 1,500–2,500 words for destination guides and city activity articles. Longer, more comprehensive pieces that genuinely warrant the length are welcome. We do not accept short-form content under 1,000 words under any circumstances.
Structure and Formatting
Submissions should be structured for a general reading audience and formatted for the web. This means:
- Use H2 and H3 subheadings to organise the article logically
- Write in short paragraphs of 2–4 sentences — avoid large walls of text
- Use bullet points or numbered lists where they aid clarity (but not as a substitute for substantive prose)
- Include a clear introduction that establishes the destination and the article’s purpose within the first 100 words
- End with a brief conclusion or call to action that helps the reader take a next step
Tone and Audience
Write for an American travel audience that is planning real trips on real budgets. Our tone is informed, accessible, and genuine — not overly promotional, not excessively casual. Think of the reader as a well-travelled friend who wants honest, specific recommendations rather than a list of obvious tourist traps. Write in second person (“you”) to maintain a direct, helpful voice.
No-AI Policy — Strictly Enforced
Travelgilt.com operates a zero tolerance policy on AI-generated content. We do not accept any article that has been written, drafted, outlined, expanded, or materially assisted by a generative AI writing tool — including but not limited to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Jasper, or similar tools.
All submissions are reviewed for AI content characteristics by our editorial team, and we use available detection tools to support this review. Submissions identified as AI-generated will be rejected immediately and permanently. Contributors found to have misrepresented the origin of their content will be permanently barred from future submissions.
This policy is not negotiable. We invest in human-written content because our readers deserve it and because it is the only kind of content we are willing to publish.
Accuracy and Sourcing
Every factual claim in your submission must be verifiable. When you reference specific statistics, entry fees, opening hours, historical facts, or data of any kind, please include the source URL in a notes section at the end of your submission (not in the article body itself). Our editorial team will verify key facts during the review process.
Do not publish outdated information as current fact. If you are uncertain whether a piece of information is still accurate, note this in your submission and we will verify it during editorial review. Never fabricate or guess at facts to fill gaps.
Link Policy
Travelgilt.com operates a strict one-link policy for guest contributors:
- One link is permitted in your author bio at the end of the article — this must point to your personal website, travel blog, or professional online portfolio
- No links are permitted in the body of the article to your own site, social media, or any commercial property
- No affiliate links, sponsored links, or promotional links of any kind are accepted anywhere in submitted content
- No links to third-party websites for commercial purposes — links to reputable informational sources (tourism boards, official government travel resources, national parks) are permitted at editorial discretion
Submissions found to contain prohibited links will be edited to remove them before publication, or rejected if the links appear to be the primary purpose of the article.

Editorial Review Process
Every submission received by Travelgilt.com goes through the following steps before any publication decision is made:
- Initial screening — We check that the submission meets basic requirements: minimum word count, topic relevance, and formatting.
- Originality check — We verify that the content is original, not previously published, and not AI-generated.
- Accuracy review — Our editors check key factual claims against authoritative sources.
- Editorial assessment — We evaluate the overall quality, usefulness, tone, and structure of the piece.
- Feedback and revision request — If the article has potential but requires changes, we contact the contributor with specific feedback and a revision request.
- Final approval and scheduling — Once approved, the article is scheduled for publication and the contributor is notified.
